breakdancing baby

Just some pictures of our beautiful baby girl.

And a video of her first "tummy time." She mostly practiced her break dancing skills but she also scooted forward a bit. It was really cute and funny.

Brooklyn

Brooklyn (no middle name yet) Killian
Tuesday, August 4, 2009; 8:45 a.m.
6 pounds, 6 ounces; 20 inches

On Monday Kurt and I decided to drive up to Palisades Lake and meet his family to go boating and then go camping for the night. After a few hours of boating I was sitting on the beach when I felt a pop and a release of pressure in my lower stomach. I knew something wasn't right and slowing stood up. Kurt asked what was wrong and I said as water leaked down my leg "I'm pretty sure my water just broke." Needless to say we got back to Idaho Falls in record time and stopped by the house to grab the hospital bag and car seat before we raced to the hospital.

I didn't have time to change so this is what I showed up to the hospital in. I felt a little ridiculous but we did get in one last maternity shot.

I took forever to dilate so they we holding off giving my pain meds. It was horrible because I was having back labor with my contractions three minutes apart for five hours before I finally got some medicine. Later when I got my epidural the baby's heart rate dropped really low. The nurses were rushing around trying to do a million things to get it to go back up. It was scary and I ended up with a pretty little oxygen mask on for the rest of the labor.

When it came time to push the doctor was on his way but not there yet but they had me push anyways. I guess I was good at it cause in the middle of a push the nurse said "woah, woah. Okay, lets wait for the doctor." Even with the delay I only pushed for twenty minutes. After she came out they plopped her on my lap. She was all purple but pinked up quickly. Here she is getting weighed.

Our first minutes together. She kept her eyes open for the first two hours of her life. She loved to look around at everything.

Kurt with Brooklyn. He is such a good dad. He was hesitant at first but can now change a diaper like a pro (Thank you Jenna for the lesson).

This doesn't look too comfortable but she is like her dad she can sleep in any position.

In the car seat for the first time.

Getting settled in for her first night at home. She actually spent more time in our bed then hers.

Here's a video of Brooklyn right after she came out.
